In 2001, Victor Sylver wrote a letter to one of Ibrahim Seaga Shaw's benefactors informing them of his true role and that of the Expo Times newspaper in the persecution of journalists during the AFRC junta rule from May 25, 1997 to February 1998. Gibril Gbanabome Koroma, then based somewhere out of Sierra Leone - 4 years later - wrote this as part of his defence of Ibrahim Seaga Shaw, the Expo Times and of course himself. This bit associating Victor Sylver with the ousted civilian regime clearly shows their part in the attempt to silence the BBC reporter.
